BEGINNER BAND
What is Beginner Band?
Beginner Band is available for ALL incoming 6th Grade students who would like to participate in Band. In this class, students will learn basic fundamental techniques to play their chosen band instrument and develop beginner level skills for playing in an ensemble. Classes are taught by all 3 (three) BISD Directors, Mrs. Capehart Mrs. Speer and Mr. Speer.
The BMS Beginner Band will have multiple opportunities to perform as a ensemble, including the MMM Band "Mass Band Night" in November, the BMS Bands Christmas Concert in December, and a festival and concert in the Spring semester.
Instruments in Beginner Band: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba and Percussion
BMS has 3 (three) Beginner Band Classes in the schedule and are broken up by instrumentation. For example, If a student decides to play Flute, they will be enrolled in the class period that has the Flute class. This way, all students are provided individualized instruction on their particular instrument.
Class Periods:
5th - Flute (Mrs. Speer) and Percussion (Mr. Speer)
6th - Clarinets (Mr. Speer) and Trumpets (Mrs. Capehart)
9th - Saxophones (Mrs. Capehart) and Low Brass (Mrs. Speer)
Color instruments, such as Horn, Oboe and Bassoon, will be determined at a late date!
